Next, here are the math problems to be completed in your Math Notebook.  Show all your work.

Part 1: Converting Fractions to Decimals

Part 3: Comparing Fractions

You CAN use a calculator for this part.

Homework for Friday October 21st, 2016

Hi everyone!

So, as I mentioned, we are starting our next round of research on conflicts.  We will be looking at lots of different conflicts that are happening right now!  Your group will choose one current conflict that you find interesting and research it deeply.

However, right now, we are just going to do some Finding Out, or some Exploring.

Within your area of conflict, your homework is to:

Find a news story in English from a good source that shows a current conflict in your area of conflict.

If you don't find anything using www.google.com then you can use the sites below.  Look for a "Search" button and type in your area of conflict to find specific results.

Then you can type in "Ethnic Conflict" or "Ethnic" and see what you find!  Be sure to ask for ideas from your parents, because maybe they have been watching the news and have an idea for you!  Pick one or two conflicts that you find interesting and bring in some basic research to share with class.

You can use:

Now here is the video I wanted you guys to watch.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wo2TLlMhiw

Hopefully you can bring some questions to class and we can discuss what you learned?
Think about, what area is this conflict mostly in?  Does it have consequences in other areas? Which ones?  Write down your ideas and we will discuss in class.

Weekend Homework for Friday October 7th-9th

Greetings Earthlings,

My name is Captain Blark Djingerloob.  I have kidnapped your teacher, Mr. Mason.  He has been taken prisoner and transported to our home, 6.5 million lightyears away, on the planet Glarb.

Before we kidnapped him, he told us that he would rather die than leave his class without their homework on the class blog.  So, we decided to make the post for him.

Here are the games he wants you to play.

The first game "Spaced Out Subject-Verb Agreement" is to be played 3 times.

The second game "Deep Space Irregular Verbs" is also to be played 3 times.  Record your scores.

The third game "Galactic Adverbs of Time" is to be played 3 times.  Record your scores.

**Report your scores on a piece of paper and some day, if Mr. Mason ever returns, he will check your scores (possibily Monday.)

REMEMBER!!  AT LEAST THREE TIMES EACH!

WARNING:
IF
YOU
DON'T
DO
YOUR

Ethics

Hi Year 5:

This post is to get you started thinking about what the word "ethics" means.

First, get out your PYP folder and take out the worksheet titled, "Ethics Vocabulary".

Here are the four vocabulary words.

Ethics
Morals
Principles
Prejudice

Now watch this video.

I found this incredible project on the web.  The Happiness Club is a group that helps create peace and love in places where there is a lot of violence and conflict.  They create songs, sing and dance to spread their message.

And this one....
